Mandy and Emma's  Progress

7-02
Her appt went well again. I was sick and waited at the coffee shop but from what Mandy said, she is in good health
12 lbs 11oz and 24.5 inches

5-03
Emma's Appointment went well again. The doctor called us, and asked if we wanted to come in early because of rain and a cold front moving in on the evening. We thought that was very kind of him to do that. We accepted and was home before it got to bad. The pediatrician is doing a graph of the growth of Emma for us. She is now 9lbs 6oz and 22 inches long. She got her 2 month vaccinations which were very painful for her and me. She let out one scream and daddy let out one scream then all was better. Mommy took care of both of us very well. I was shocked we did not get a sucker. All the other kids did!

Emma's Appointment went well. She is now almost 8lbs and 21 inches long. The Pediatrician was very pleased with the growth of Emma.

3-8 9:45pm
Emma had her one week Dr appointment. It went very well. Emma was a good girl. She grew a half of inch and gained back her birth weight. She was right at 3 kilos/6 lbs 10 ounces. Dr said Mandy and Emma are a great team with the feeding.

Emma and I are bonding very well. It seems every time I pick her up to hold her we bond. I have her for about 5 minutes then she has a "blowout"

3-4 - 6:00pm
Update on Mandy is that she is doing well. Her headaches are about gone. She has rested well during the day thanks to the grandmas. We sure appreciate their help

3-4 5:00pm
We have had Internet problems. Sorry for the delay. A lot has happened these past 2 days. Our first night at home was exciting. We all went to bed around 12:30am or so. The first night was great only waking up one time when the alarm went off at 4am for Mandy to feed. I got up telling everyone the night went great. Mandy on the other hand said it was not. She only had 2 hours of sleep because Emma was up all night. I said, There is no way. I didn't hear her one time. Mandy said, I know I kept her quiet to let you sleep and didnt ask for you to help.
AWH! I have a great wife!!

Well the 2nd night was not that way. Emma was up the whole night and so were Mandy and me. Mandy told me I had my one night freebie so get to work. As a team, we took care of Emma. The good thing is Emma is only fussy not screaming her head off, even though sometimes she does use those powerful lungs.

Emma received her first bath. This was an exciting time. We were all in the bedroom trying to do exactly as the nurse showed us. Of course, it never works out that way. I wanted to do the first part, because it was easy, and Mandy do the last part. Well, I get the diaper off and began to do the prep work when all of a sudden Emma pees. It scared the daylights out of me! It took me a couple of secs to realize what was going on. Of course, GG Thompson got a big laugh, but I talked with Emma, and she got GG back today. Mrs Thompson went to change a dirty diaper and Emma shot her! It was great!

3-2 7:30pm
We left the hospital today around 1pm today. It was our lucky day for there was a huge soccer game about to start. Emma was hungry, and we just decided to feed her when we got home. Lesson number one - when the baby is hungry feed her then, do not wait. There was traffic and lots of people. The bad thing about it is the only way to get home was to drive BY the stadium. There were vendors, police, people, and traffic everywhere. It was stressful going to the hospital with Mandy having contractions 2 mins apart, now we are in a traffic jam with a hungry baby! Anyway I took an alternate route and missed my turn which put us farther away from our home. In Sao Paulo, if you miss your turn on a major highway it could be many miles before you can turn around. We went about 30 minutes out of the way before we finally made it back to where we needed to be.

We made it home and now enjoying Emma. She has slept the whole day and evening. I think the car ride wore her out. I just pray she will sleep through the night! She will hear her first church service tonight via internet.

3-1 1:14pm
Emma is doing fine. She is in good health and eating well. Mandy is having bad headaches again from the epidural. The doctor said she will have to stay another day. Our departure time is tomorrow afternoon.
New pictures will be published soon

2-29 11:22am
Today is leap day! We were praying Emma would not come on this day. We are so thankful. Well Mandy is getting a shower and doing very well. Breastfeeding is a chore, but Emma will get the hang of it. Last night, Emma cried or should I say screamed. I think she has a temper. She may have been aggravated because of learning to eat. Anyway, we appreciate the emails and will try to respond shortly.

We lost internet connection last evening. I was not able to update like I wanted to. Mandy did have a severe headache. When she received the epidural, it went a little to far and started a leak which caused much pressure on her brain/head. Of course she did not know it until everything wore off. The Anesthesiologist had to come in and draw quite a bit of blood and do the procedure again, but this time he did a blood clot to stop the leak and it should dissolve on its on. As of last night the headaches were gone and Mandy was doing much better

2-28 1:14pm
Mandy is having bad headaches. The doctor just gave her some strong medicine. She is now out and I have gotten my 2 hour nap. Grandmas are at our house sleeping. I am about to upload some pics for you!

2-28 9:15am
Mandy is sleeping and EmmaLee is in the nursery. Our pediatrician is on his way to meet EmmaLee. She will return to the room in an hour. I better get some shut eye. Grandmas are doing fine and enjoying their grand daughter.
We are all exhausted but hope to call some of you in a bit

2-28 6:30am
EmmaLee Gayle Crews was born at 5:32am after an hour of pushing. Both Mandy and the baby are doing well. Mandy had tears to the muscle and needed a stitch up. She is better but will have to recover. Emma has Mandy's eyes and lips but my nose! EmmaLee is 6lbs 10 ounces. By the way,
Emma was born on my Mom and Dad's (Crews) Wedding Anniversary

2-28 3:52
Mandy received the epidural. Her contractions were still painful after 20 minutes. She is all the way dilated. She received another small epidural and all is well.
EmmaLee should be here within the hour

2-28 2:20
Mandy's contractions are now coming quickly and harder. She is in the shower relaxing. The next hour I think we will be pushing.

2-28 1:40am
Ok we finally got internet access in the delivery room. Mandy is now at 6cm. It has been a long battle. She stopped progressing so we have been doing a lot of walking. The doctor is about to check her again and may break the water. Let me go she is here

2-27 10:30pm
We are at the hospital! Mandy was having contractions 3 minutes apart when we decided to go to the hospital.  On the way it was down to 2 minutes apart. I was stressed out! The doctor happened to still be here. She checked Mandy and she was at 5cm. Doctor checked her into the room. We are now waiting on the midwife. Let me go Mandy is having contractions.
